I would like to create something as close and affordable to an OEM hardtop and would like to know if I should attempt to give the hardtop a rectangular window instead of a curved window to save costs and ease of installation? I am open to any suggestions as I view this project as somewhat of a community project where I am grateful for everyone's help. Never had one vapor lock unless I was doing something terrible to it. I know there was another thread where they attempted to create a unique look that didn't resonate with many spyder members. Spyder parts haul I posted a few weeks ago about the 2002 MR2 that I picked up. Hopefully you guys can open the pictures but as it stands, I am having trouble with deciding what to do with the window. I am aware that this is an ambitious project but if proven to be viable I would be happy to produce hardtops for others as well given the right price. I am using a 3d modeling software with what I believe to be a scaled model of the mr2 after some scaling that I did on the software. For reference I am taking inspiration from HutchinsRacing on Youtube and his series of videos (at the bottom of this post). I plan on using this project to apply for a college research grant to help with the production of the hardtop. Seeing this price increase has caused me to want to find a more affordable way to get a hardtop. I have a soft top that has seen better days and watched the prices of hardtops go from 1.5k to now 3-4k which is crazy. So, the result of all of this is: One would need to trim just under 5/16' off the steering stops to match the turning circle of a 4Runner, given that tire clearance has already been sorted out.Some background information: I am a college student with a dream and a now working spyder. The 5.68 deg difference in steering angle corresponds to 0.3' trimmed from the steering stop, and would result in about 3.27' of additional travel at the edge of a 33' tire. The required steering angle to achieve the 4Runner's 37.4 ft turning circle is 39.45 deg. The measurements came out to 31 deg, which seems about right since I stopped just short of max travel to avoid stressing the P/S pump while measuring. If I calculate correctly, this means the front tires pivot to a max steering angle of 22.9 deg.

The stock FJ turning circle (diameter) is 41.8 feet. 5', you'll allow it to pivot an extra 9.5 degrees, which will swing the tire edge (of a 33' tire) an extra 5.5'.
